The bottom line is this, the only reason Sea World is not putting Tilli down is because they need him as a sperm donor. That has nothing to do with research. That motive is all about profit. Tilli is still a frustrated, captive Orca who cannot survive in the wild according to the experts in the field.
The bottom line really is that people will still bring their brats to see the Killer Whales perform and that is the true tragedy.
Tilli was caught in the wild so he knows freedom. How would you like it if you could never leave your house, EVER!? Or better yet...not only can you not leave your house, your keepers confine you to your bedroom indefinitely; and feed you rfood that you don't like; and make you mate with someone you don't care to.

Your rant is off topic. Should Tilli be set free or euthanized?
1998:A medical panel determines that Keiko is healthy and exhibiting the normal behavior patterns of a killer whale. Keiko is eating live steelhead weighing from three to 12 pounds each, comprising up to half of his daily intake of food. On September 9, Keiko is lifted from his tank and transported by a US Airforce C-17 transport jet from Newport directly to Klettsvik Bay in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland.
2002:On his first day out of the netted bay pen in the summer of 2002, Keiko leaves the tracking boat and begins spending considerable time in the company of whales. He is monitored in and around groups of wild whales for the next three weeks. He then begins an epic journey covering nearly 1000 miles across the North Atlantic, by the Faeroe Islands, and to the coast of Norway. The first observations of Keiko in Norway document that he is in excellent physical condition. Keiko has been on his own for close to 60 days without food from humans. His lead veterinarian, and a variety of other orca scientists, come to the conclusion that Keiko has successfully fed himself in the wild, a major milestone in his journey to the wild
How many people did the shark kill in the first JAWS. Chrissy the nude swimmer, That Kintner boy, the row boat guy, Ben Gardner and Quint. 5. This orca has killed 3. Carry along an IPOD into the show and start playing the theme from JAWS so the trainers can hear it.

Free him. Slowly introduce real seawater into his tank to readjust his body to the bacteria/organisms needed to survive, then FREE HIM!
He was wild caught, and therefore it is safe to assume he was taught survival skills by his mother/pod.
This whale is worth more than a human (Probably smarter too...you cooped me up like that and tried to make me do flips Id kill you too!), worth more than to be used as an entertainment toy for bored parents and their screaming little brats.
Let me guess, you're one of those people that would kill any animal that harmed a person, even if its the person's fault?

(April 29) -- A new report reveals minute-by-minute details of the killer whale attack that claimed the life of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau in February, including accounts from witnesses who said Brancheau briefly broke free from the 12,000-pound orca's grip.
The investigative report released Wednesday by the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Fla., includes a park surveillance video that captured the Feb. 24 attack, accounts from horrified witnesses and statements from SeaWorld employees who tried to rescue Brancheau, 40, after Tilikum pulled her underwater by her ponytail.
