Perspective. I'm sure the CEO of a multi-national, multi-billion dollar corporation feels he's earned his million dollar salary or pension. You'd agree they earned it and deserve it, right?

You have to be kidding! Govt employee salaries are equal or greater than their civilian counterparts before benefits. Fact.

Perhaps you should investigate how group plans & choice of plans work for federal & state workers.

I'm a teacher who pays $345/month for my husband & my insurance premium, $100 yrly deductible each, 20% co-pay beyond that on routine medical.
I worked for a local city government and paid nada for health insurance premiums and only had a $10 co-pay (HMO plan).

Yep, I've heard that too. The average public sector employee earns $73K/year whereas the average private sector employee earns $46K/year. I could be off by +/- a couple thousand, but it's somewhere in that ballpark.

Maybe the federal government does not pay as well ... I dunno as I'm not a federal employee and have not done a pay comparison. I do know that the city government I used to work for, my pay was way above the private sector for senior clericals (almost 50K). I was only in that classification for 2 years before reaching that pay scale. What was required to even enter the clerical class? 18-years of age ... No experience and no high school diploma required.

the AVERAGE employee of the government is higher because of the highness of the job

for example civialian job xyz has 100 employees ranging from 30-100k

government section has 10 empoloyees ranging from 50-80k

the average in the civialian is 45k yet the average in the government is 75k

you arent going to compair an analyst to a hamburger flipper are you???
