I would have to go with the 1955-1967 when, IMO, America was at the height of it's industrial strength and influence around the world.

Now, if you think America's best days are yet to come, by all means, sound off and express why.

I'd vote for the late 1800's and the very early 1900's before Keynesian style economics were instituted.

Yeah, the quarter century from emancipation in 1865 to the onset of antitrust laws in 1890 was certainly the freest period in our history. After that came antitrust, militarism as a permanent way of life, Jim Crow, everything contemptible.

Probably 10000 BCE - 1492 CE.

It was pretty awesome then. No pollution, completely isolationist, no taxes. Oh and all the buffalo you could eat!

Sure you might have to roam around a bit and watch for those annoying "spears in the back."

Our best days are now. More freedom and opportunities for everybody, no matter what your background is.

You mentioned 1955-1967 as being the best years. If you're anything other than a Protestant, heterosexual, white male, you have more freedom today than you did back then in terms of social freedom and job opportunities.

Not so. a lot of what made America great came from Blacks who lived during that time. most of the great inventions made were made during those years by Blacks. Most of the great Authors and playrights were of those days. most of the breakthroughs for Blacks happened in those years. don't let the racism aspect of the country at that time overshadow all that went on duing those years.

but back to your answer....why is now the best days for America in your opinion?
