Opponents of gay marriage are asking the Supreme Court to put a hold on the District of Columbia's new law allowing same-sex couples to wed.

The new law, passed in December, is supposed to take effect Wednesday.

Wow. Opponents of same-sex marriage in D.C. are looking desperate. I guess they think the world is going to come to an end if two guys or two women get married there.

"I care about what other people do, especially when this will have no effect in my life at all. Oh my thousands of years old book tells me this is wrong" - Any retard against this.

If all their energy was put into fighting divorce and its causes, maybe they would then truly be fighting to protect marriage. They are so obsessed with fighting gay marriage that they do not realize that it is marriage itself they are fighting. The only difference between gay and straight marriage is the sex of the couples; so what. Why should it matter to them? They should be putting their millions of wasted dollars into helping homeless children or kids in foster care. They do not give a darn about children. They just want the rights to be discriminatory.

Why are you guys such racists?

Before you respond you need to check who it is exactly in DC that's involved with the SCOTUS request (hint: they're not white and they're certainly not Republicans). If it indeed even happens.

I support gay marriage by civil unions. I do not think a church has to marry anyone. I do not think the government can tell a church who they can marry.
That said your thread title does a disservice to gay marriage proponents by trying to marginalize opponents by over stating that the article said.
No where in the article does it state that opponents are begging.
That kind if language does not help pro gay marriage cause .IMHO

They should mind their own business. Civil marriage is a facet of property law and should be the same for everyone. Church marriage is a function of the religion and controlled by the religion and only applicable to the members of that religion.
