Fiscal conservativism is great, but perhaps the senator could use what few brain cells he has left and pick a less critical bill on which to make his point. Thousands of people just temporarily lost benefits and were furloughed thanks to what he did.

"desperate, unemployed people"?

If you can't find a job after A YEAR................you are lazy and just want to continue drawing unemployment rather than take a job you don't like. Things are not that bad.

I look at it this way: he had the balls to stand up for what he thinks is right.

I got a phone call from my 23 year old granddaughter this morning (6:30am I will mention) she was on her way to work. Her comment, why in the heck do we have to extend the unemployment again? If you can't find some kind of work after a year you are not trying. I will add, her 28 year old husband just lost his job..his company closed down. What did he do? He went out on his own....When she graduated from college 2 years ago, she couldn't find a decent job, what did she do? She worked for a temp company til she found one...

Her solution to all this: good benefits for the 1st six months, cut them by 50% for the next, etc until you don't get them..She thinks this way people would work for whatever they had to just to have money..I will add, many of her friends graduated and couldn't get jobs right away either, they did whatever they had to until they could find something.

We all know it is tough out there, but for those of us who have been through it we also know where there is a will there is a way.

Nita

Congress will NEVER make the necessary cuts in the budget! They all need to be thrown out of office.

A member of congress who wanted to pay for the spending. He is made to look like the bad guy because he wanted to have actual money to pay for it.

"Bunning's a real Prince among men, eh?".

Gee, a $10billion dollar bill. In your way of thinking, why not make it 20billion, or 30 or 40. So what. It shows compassion. who cares where the money comes from. Just print some more.

It's about time somebody stood up to the idiots in congress.

I don't. But his hands are tied. At least he dared to show war expense on his budget, unlike his predecessor. And that is war, some people here really love it. I bet Bunning does too.

I prefer our government borrow money for long term unemployment payments than borrow it for another year in Afghanistan or Iraq. My wishful thinking would like to have it paid for by raising the top income tax rate to 80 to 90%.

Why not just tax 100% of all money made. The high tax rates on the rich has worked well for New Jersey and California.

Your joking right? 80-90%!! Wow you really must not like people who make money and in many cases create jobs. Or is part of the "share the wealth" speech which people bought into.
On sharing the wealth.........
Ask an "A" student if they would like to give part of their grade to a kid not trying as hard with a "D" to bring them up so all students can be equal. Please, sharing the wealth is a socialist/progressive idea and will not fly in this country. Our constitution does not cover "Sharing the Wealth". Maybe in a socialist country.
80-90% of what I earn would go to the gov, that REALLY makes me want to go out and work harder and produce more, oh YA!

101 eco..............Lower taxes=more businesses hiring and opening=more people working=more revenue.
