This is why you invest in physical assets also.

I haven't been on this board in a few weeks, and I'm glad to see that you all are still completely crazy and paranoid. How do you live with yourselves?

I see what you're saying. I mean, back in 2005 only the paranoid would've believed the government could ever nationalize an insurance company, mortgage backers, or car manufacturers.

How times change.

Right now they can clean you out any time they want. Things happen in such volume and at such high speeds that in order to get ahead you have to be monitoring it 24 hours a day and have the software that will react within 30 minutes.

I also agree with you, nothing surprises me with what Our Government does to push their way in our lives even further. Our Government for the People, what a complete joke!

Huh? "They" can't clean you out if you diversified into physical assets.

401k's are terrible, anyway. I'm starting the process of closing mine out, even though I'll have to pay penalties. I really don't want some law telling me how much money I can take out of a 'savings' plan or having to pay taxes on money I earned. I know, it starts out tax free, but I'd rather pay the taxes on my money and put it into a regular savings account. Only then is it 'all mine'.

401k's were developed for ultra-wealthy people to hide income to avoid paying taxes on it. Whoever decied to bring them to the mainstream public and have them take the place of pensions or savings accounts was an idiot. Probably the same idiot who is raking in billions while my 401k takes hit after hit.

Fox..at $15K ($20 if over 50) per year it's hardly a shelter for wealthy people to hide their money.

Ultra wealthy do not use 401K. It was a sham to replace defined pensions for us peons. Sold to the masses by the Corporations to benefit their bottom line, not yours.
They sold us a bill of good saying we could have so much more money in a 401K then a pension.
Then we had to put OUR money in there and all up to the whim of wall street.

People ARE NOT better off with 401K vs defined pensions.
