You have certain natural rights that public officials have no right to take away. You have the right to live your life as you like, so long as you're not hurting anyone else. Inalienable rights endowed by your Creator can certainly be waived or surrendered.
To illustrate, look up the definition of the militia in the law. From day one, the militia apparently have no "right to life, liberty, etc" because they are under the legal obligation to train, fight and die, on command.
The Supreme court ruled that civic duties are NOT involuntary servitude.
That leaves VOLUNTARY servitude.
Unfortunately, most do not know how and when they volunteered.
The Draft Dodgers of the 1960-1970s certainly didn't know.
