OP, I don't know who you've been talking to or what grade of drugs might have been consumed BUT the United States is not on the path towards socialized medicine.

There are some in this country who want socialized medicine.
There are some who want a single-payer system. The two are not the same BTW, no matter how you many on the right want to say that they are. Not every single-payer system is socialized medicine...

In any case, there was a case of a little girl who died from dehydration in a very well known hospital here in the United States.

The good thing about a socialized health care system is that it's accountable to the public. Health insurance companies are only accountable to their stockholders.

I won't say the British health care system is perfect but we can learn a lot from them.
