I'm not a sport fisher, so I don't all the ins-and-outs having to deal with the laws and regs they abide by. But according to the American Sportsfishing Association, Obama is moving ahead to ban or greatly limit recreational fishing. The money quote is, "preservation over conservation".

More on this. This snuck right by me. That net neutrality bill, don't buy it. It's clear that this admin is using every trick to expand gov't as fast as it can. Less gov't, not more!

As more evidence of collusion, the green groups began clamoring for an Executive Order to implement the task force's recommendations even before the public comment period ended in February. Fishing advocates had no idea that this was coming.

Morlock fears that "what we're seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There's no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate.

I don't see any evidence that the Obama Administration is attempting to "ban recreational fishing" in the linked press release...

Quote:
A sweeping oceans and Great Lakes management policy document proposed by the Obama Administration will have a significant impact on the sportfishing industry, America’s saltwater anglers and the nation’s coastal communities
Okay, does anyone have anymore information about what that really entails? Sounds like they're concerned about the study conducted by this Ocean Task Force and the possible impacts on ocean and Great Lakes fishing---however has anyone read the report by the task force?

Aren't most of the regulations concerning sport fishing controlled by state agencies? In Oregon it's the state Department of Fish and Wildlife that regulates fishing limits, not a federal agency.

Isn't nice that the government is concerned about the little fishes and fishing gear, soon it will be the little bambi's and the hunting equipment ( guns) just give them time.
