I remember when tobacco executives were mocked when they stated that "smoking is no more dangerous than eating cookies" and "soon they will be coming for your cheeseburger". No we have some doctors and health organizations claiming that obesity and diabetes kills more people than smoking and we are seeing proposed fat and sugar taxes.
Who would have thought that a bunch of amoral corporate shills were actually right?
Purely for the $$$ and typically wrapped in the cloak of "health reasons" or "for the kids" (lol)
Plenty of nanny state fools will line up in support of this latest theft.
An additional tax will not prevent the majority of people from doing themselves harm. They will simply just pay more money and the underlying problem will not be solved. I am not at all for using taxation to alter peoples behavior. It adds to the governments coffers and that is about it.
soda water with a twist o lime prepared in the kitchen = no tax
Nanny says TAX IT:
"Carbonated soda water causes bloat, which can increase your appetite and may lead to overeating, resulting in obesity, diabetes etc.
You're still free to drink as much soda whenever and wherever you want. That being said if you spend more than $10 on soda a week, you have problems; you shouldn't be whining about the government
This "sin tax" hould be added to all fast food also. Heart disease and diabetes is killing as many people as the drinkers and smokers. RP
What do you mean "as many"? Try way, way more. The obesity epidemic is going to bankrupt the US if nothing is done about it.
