I've observed conservative Christians don't refer to themselves as evangelicals. In fact, I can't recall a time I've ever read a fundamentalist Christian claim they are evangelical. They refer to themselves as Christians. Do you feel its a term used to divide Christians or do you feel it's a label that is used to accurately describe your views?

I am a born again Christian and conservative. That is a label that people have tried to make a negative and fringe viewpoint. I have found that pretty ironic considering it wast Jesus that said we must be born again (spiritually). I do not consider myself to be an evangelical.

As far as evangelicals in many cases they have been deserving of the negative connotations because of all the TV Evangelists fleecing people. They will get their rewards in the end and may not be too happy with them. All evangelicals means to me is a group that make spreading the Gospel their number one priority. There is nothing wrong with that as long as don't cross over the line like so many on TV have.

This should be in the religion forum, not politics.

There exists Evangelical churches, and there exists Fundamentalist churches.

There could be some who are both.

This are different terms which describe different things.

Fundamentalist and evangelical are actually quite different terms, though many fundamentalists are evangelical as well, the two are not always the same. It puts a fine point on things, but it is true. And , yes, this thread would be better served on the religion forum.
