Should the Baseball Hall of Fame include Steroid users?
Big names like Barry Bonds; Roger Clemens; Alex Rodriquez; and Mark McGwire
have broken records but have been accused of using performance enhancing drugs.
Some have argued that a player's integrity and virtue should be considered
along with performance.
Others have argued that excluding steroid users will result in excluding a big
chunk of baseball history from the Hall of Fame.
Baseball has become just entertainment when it once was used to encourage our young to achieve their potential with what they had.
When a player excelled, he was held to high esteem because he was seen as a positive role model, "see what you can do if you challenge yourself and put your mind to it?" The records were our way of memorializing achievements.
Now it's just entertainment, how much money can be made. Statistics mean nothing, as long as your team wins. Does anybody even watch the games anymore, or do they just party and collect on the winning team?
Let them use their drugs, whatever. I wouldn't call it the Hall of Fame though, maybe the Baseball Club.
I'd like to see All Star Games pitting the best Nons against the best Users in each league.
I'm sure I'd be Cub-like and root for the NONS.
Al-Anon vs National Users League (NULS).
Wonder if this makes me a liberal.
George Will - You got any thoughts?
