OK, so most americans want a public option, not currently in the bill.
Most americans don't want THIS bill
You've just made the argument to start over...something most americans DO want.
It must be earlier in Jersey than I thought, the Public Option HAS been inserted in the Reconciliation Bill. Not only to make the Reform Bill better, but to boost popular support for the effort.
They have concluded that their best interests lie in providing something of what most Americans want. Good for the Dems, get it done.
get it done and get voted out of office, beaten by people who will work to get it undone.
the government has clearly proven that they are a corrupt bunch of politicians. liberals are so desperate to get something of their agenda done that they will sell democrats out to the insurance industry with this mandatory health insurance tax and will then sell the rest of americans out with cap and trade and legalizing illegal immigrants. most americans want no part of any of this. so go ahead and get it done, and see where it gets you.
if liberals were truly honest, they would vote on alan grayson's 4 page health care bill, with NO FILLER, and an up or down vote. this is what liberals say that they want and it doesn't have school loan "reform" (how many americans even know about that?)or any other crap in the package. what they have now instead is is over 1,000 pages of corruption, special interests, and rewards for the privileged sector- by design.
I want a government funded, by a 1940's style progressive income tax, Universal Health Care system not a private sector health insurance industry. Maybe they could go and insure housing values or provide competition in the auto insurance market.
I do not want this bill either. It does not provide what is needed.
medicare for all, or any type single or dual payer system would be too costly, it couldnt be funded, we dont have the assets to do so.
medicare currently covers (only partially, it is not 100% coverage) about 40 million (about 1/7th of the population) seniors and has an ANNUAL COST of 500 BILLION dollars.............................to cover all, would cost anywhere from 2.5-4.5 trillion A YEAR..............divide by the 120 million taxpayers...that's an average tax bill of 20,000-38,000 EACH HOUSEHOLD, EACH YEAR, an always rising.......can you afford that,,, I certainly cant...and its a HECK OF A LOT MORE THAN PRIVATE INSURANCE

Have you ever been witness to such legislative contortions that are bordering on the criminal? Have you ever seen such underhanded, dirty tricks employed by such desperate, corrupt, divisive leaders?
This "shell" has the public option and unless it is stripped out, it would become law if passed by the house.
I have never witnessed such behavior to get a bill passed on the part of a political party, that goes against massive public opposition, but they just don't care. They are desperate enough to see this through.
Oh, those backroom deals given out by the dems - staying in.
Student loan program on the table as well.
What we have witnessed for the last year, culminating in these procedural hoops by the dems, is everything that is wrong with Washington.
Every poll, including even Rasmussen, shows the majority favor a bill that includes a Public Option. What the Dems are resorting to, is trying to adopt a plan that does provide what the public wants. It is not yet clear that this will actually make it to Reconciliation, but we can hope. Our Representatives do not necessarily answer to their public. It is clear that the Ins Ind will not like the Public Option. So who will our Reps listen to?
I just looked at the Rasmussen poll and 53 are against this bill and 43 are for the bill. Nancy will make you happy and put the PO back in.
How much you want to bet it DOESN'T get stripped out? That once again the dems will try for a PO.
