If Doctors were government employees, they wouldn't have to worry about running a business, insurance forms or illegals, they could devote all of their time to healing
The Doctors that leave were probably in it for all the wrong reasons or they forgot why they entered the field in the first!!!! If it is only about the money then adios!!!!
There are no doctors in Alaska taking medicare anymore. I guess you might have to fly to Washington for a checkup now. This plan will be the straw that breaks the camels back. This added debt will bankrupt this country. Read chrismartin.com. The writing is on the wall. RP

IT IS ABOUT MAKING A LIVING THOUGH
sorry if you cant see that....
Gotlieb said getting paid "fairly" by Medicaid is such a problem for Georgia's doctors that many are no longer taking new patients, or dropping patients altogether. Others, she said, are going out of business because the payments from the program don't cover their costs.
Consequently, as the number of Medicaid patients grow at her practice, Gotlieb said she's also losing money instead of making more money.
"It's become a desperate situation for us," said Gotlieb, who says 62% of her patients are now on Medicaid. Her practice, the Pediatric Center of Stone Mountain, has already laid off one of its four doctors since January, and four other employees were let go in the past three weeks.
The problem is so acute that she's trying to cut back on new Medicaid admissions.
According to the federal government's Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicaid payments to providers typically are lower than what Medicare -- a public health insurance program for people 65 and older -- pays providers for services that are comparable, such as sick visits. Medicare payment rates also tend to be significantly lower than private insurers.
For example, if a doctor who accepts Medicare normally charges $100 for an elderly person's sick visit, Medicare pays the doctor about $76. But, should a child with the same illness visit a doctor who takes Medicaid, that doctor will get paid about two-thirds of the Medicare rate, or about $50. Pediatricians warn they may stop taking Medicaid patients - Mar. 17, 2010
Exactly. The VA hospitals are filled with foreign trained doctors. Not surprisingly there certainly seems to be a lot of patients misdiagnosed. Another problem is getting a doctor that speaks English well enough to be understood by the patient. Do we really want to get rid of our own Doctors and use foreign doctors instead? Do we want even greater waits to see a doctor because we have less available?
VA hospital? Not for this Vet.
I'd rather have a robot.
It would be a lot cheaper.
Let workers in the U.S. build them. The robots wouldn't come saddled with student loans.

So you would prefer to have someone heal you with their good intentions, rather than someone with the highest level of skill and ability? We all don't have the same abilities, and the brightest and most talented tend to go to fields where there is a good reward for their efforts. If some government flunky can arbitrarily set pay for doctors, why would one go into the field when they are better rewarded elsewhere?
That should bring down the population of the US in short time.
With 750,000 deaths each year due to medical errors, a reduction of 30% of doctors might result in 250,000 lives saved! Of course, I'm being a little facetious here .. but the point is ... the real problems in the medical industry and healthcare delivery are not addressed at all ... not even a topic of conversation.
We all understand that medicare and medicaid are in total shambles. So the answer is to turn over the entire healthcare system over to the same government that have been running these programs? They've done such a GOOD JOB with the VA Hospitals and healthcare delivery to Veterans, lets give them all of the hospitals and doctors offices to run?
According to Obama, we could see a 3000% reduction in costs with the government running the show. Really? 3000% reduction? And these are the clowns people will trust to re-write the healthcare script?
Any plan that allows the FDA to be involved (read: protect the interests of big Pharma at the expense of health) is just another dog and pony show, only this time, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE ... YOU WILL PAY ... with money and maybe your very life (if you are over the age of 50).
Somebody really should read the legislation ... and try to understand that what they have in mind is for them to decide how much YOUR life is actually worth ... are you over 60? Well, no need to have that procedure ... you aren't worth it ... just die ... it's your duty. Let's save that money, and use it for something worthwhile ... like treating illegal aliens.
Tom Daschle thinks that old people should just accept a little pain and reality. You're old ... you're going to die anyway .. so the sooner the better if we can save a few bucks.
No Thanks, Tom.
