This thread is no different. The commentary linked to in the OP is dripping with this sentiment (see the quotes I listed above). My response:

Fact: Most people with HIV are not gay. 90% of people with HIV were infected via heterosexual sex.

I think it's a pretty good counterargument (even thought the original argument lacks a logical basis to begin with).
The CDC statistics tell a story. This particular report deals primarily about the HIV rate in the homosexual population.

Why are you dead set against the factual information contained in the report?

The report does not include any personal feelings of the information gatherer. They are facts. As I said in my earlier posts, they did the same for women, black community, etc. Why is it when the homosexual community is given facts about the numbers they choose to become defensive and call it an attack and refuse the data contained in the report?

It happens all the time. Look at Larry Craig, and look at the California Republican State Senator who was recently arrested on a DUI charge after having left a gay bar. Both of them have repeatedly voted against gay rights interests.

We see it here too. The same gay-bashers, day in and day out. They've got a real problem. They say they're anti-gay, yet they can't stop talking about homosexuality.

What????? I can promise you there is no issue more important to the gay community, nor any issue that receives more attention in the gay community than HIV/AIDS.

Again, you're totally off base.

if you want to have a real discussion about HIV/AIDS and the gay community in the US (and the myriad issues directly related to and surrounding it), I'm more than willing to have that discussion. However, the minute I start hearing thing like "immoral" sex, or "deviant", then I'm done.
did you watch the link ?

that is what this thread is dealing with.

are you sticking your head in the ground like an ostrich on the defense?

discuss the link i posted because it deals with the original post of this thread.

Doesn't that chart actually bolster the OP's assertion?

Does going to a gay bar necessarily mean you're gay? I myself wouldn't go, but I know many, many straight females who have gone to gay bars because of the atmosphere (and lack of being hit on by hordes of men).

Has the CA State Senator acknowledged being gay? Just curious.

#1.

the major method of transmission is male to male sex.

#2.

careless sexual contact.

#3

IV drugs. (we dont need to disguss how junkies get their drugs.... BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY)

WHAT'S YOUR POINT?

CARELESS SEX IS THE ISSUE GAY OR STRAIGHT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT IT'S GAY SEX THAT THE MAJOR METHOD OF HIV IS TRANSMITTED IN THE UNITED STATES WHAT'S WRONG WITH POINTING THAT OUT?

sure it does...

but when people are defensive about their sexual proclivities they also feel defensive about what they perceive as people criticizing their sexual orientation choice.... EVEN IF THE POINT OF THE STUDY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION CHOICE - and deals with the numbers only.

And that senator who voted against legislation came out as being gay. He voted the will of his constituents, against his judgment which is how a representative is supposed to vote.

And yes straight women have gone to gay bars so they would have a good time and not be hit on, but it takes them 5x as long to get a drink at those bars also.

Why is it that homosexuals are not minorities? Homosexuals are not in the majority of the population, so that makes them a minority. Now maybe you think a minority is a racial category, but it is not. Homosexuals make up between 3% and 10% of the population, depending on where you take the numbers. They are still a minority, BTW.
