This question was asked 40 plus years ago and can equally be applied today. What is going on with health care? It is clear the CBO scoring went against Obama. Why are these people trying to cram a fatally flawed bill down our throats? Can we please do health care reform on the up and up? in the light of day without gimmicks, without bribes? This is too important. I am no fan of this but any fair minded peolpe have to look at his in disgust. Even if you are an ardent supporter of socialized medicine don't you think this has gone far enough? This is really sad.

They will continue to fudge the numbers, employ more accounting gimmicks, make even more backroom deals until they get a number they believe is palatable to the moderate dems.

This is truly shameful what they are doing. Unprecedented power grab by the federal government in the face of massive opposition from the states and the public. But they don't care - this is an opportunity they have been waiting for decades - this is just the start if it passes, Pelosi has assured her members that there will be more legislation down the road to the ultimate goal - single payer.

Can we imagine what they would be saying if the republicans had tried something like this on such a far reaching piece of legislation?

Ardent supporters of socialized medicine absolutely hate this bill.
Please don't try to make this bill look like socialized medicine.

In any case, we should be asking if health insurers have any shame: http://hcfan.3cdn.net/578b1f7456962bfa7a_r6m6bhcjn.pdf

Capitalism is fundamentally flawed. Exhibit A. This process exposed the flaws of capitalism, not socialism. Every little private corporation that really runs this country(the president is irrelevant) has shown their colors.

Each party has done this from time to time, but this is over the top. I admit I am a partisan but if the Republicans had gone to the lengths that the Dems have gone to on this issue I honestly would be up in arms. enough is enough. I am voting against every incumbent in November, Chris Smith (R) is my Rep. I intend to vote against him in November. I will vote for a Dem for the first time in my life.

Forget the talking points, the insurance companies don't represent us. As a liberal you should go after Kucinich and donate as much to his opponenet as you can. What they are doing is beyond horrible.

Eh.....this time the bribes are more out in the open.
Both parties are corrupt.

The big difference between Dems and Repubs are issues like abortion and gay marriage, both of which are issues that distract the public from more important issues like trade, the economy, health care, etc.

Why waste my money giving money to Kucinich's opponent?

I won't ever give money to the Democratic Party. I pretty much give to the Green Party and Socialist Party USA. I gave money to one Democratic candidate in one of the House races for my state but that's only because I feel she's a progressive. Some people give to Democrats simply because they have the label Democrat next to their name. It's precisely why we're in the mess we're in now.

Most people in Congress are just puppets of the corporations. I don't think Kucinich is a corporate puppet but he is being played by the Democratic Party. He would be better off as a Green Party candidate.
