I don't see anything socialist about Europe.
I don't like Socialism, but neither do I like Capitalism, they both lead nowhere I want to go. The US is a mess, and Europe is not much better anymore.

Why would the exceptional people even bother to excel if they are going to be treated the same as everyone else?

And if they are not rewarded, they stop creating. When that happens, we have no more Bill Gates, Fred Smiths or Dave Thomases.
They all will say "screw it"! I'll let the government take care of me". and when the government can't do it anymore, I'll riot in the streets like in Greece. Because my will to work and sweat and create something of value has atrophied.

All I know how to do now is scream and burn stuff down.

THAT'S WHY TRUE AMERICANS DON'T WANT TO BE EUROPE. SIMPLE.

I don't live in Europe (and neither do you) so I don't care. I live in the US and I see some things that Europe is doing well that would be advantageous for us to duplicate. You're the one that is trying to get into the mind of a European, which is incredibly dubious.

Like many you have a talent for reading in what isn't there.

Before you get yourself in too deep, I have dual citizenship.

If socialism is supposed to be so horribly harmful against humanity, then please explain why there is no movement in the United States to put a stop to Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and other welfare??

Why always refer to Europe? Why not refer to other places that work very well, for instance South Korea...

If you want the United States to be like Europe, then why don't you just MOVE to Europe? Leave our country alone.

This is our country too, you know. We're Americans, and we get to vote, just like you.

Who said anyone is afraid of anything? By your logic European socialsts are afraid of capitalism. Conservatives believe in smaller less intrusive government. I know I am banging my head against a wall by coming to this forum, but why can't we have an honest discussion about these issues. Political discourse as a whole has devolved into into the Jerry Springer show. What we need is a modern day Firing Line. But I fear we lack intellectual fire power on either side of the ball. What a shame.
