A friend asked me if bill H.R.3557 passed. It pertains to a $250 stimuus payment for S.S. recipients in 2010. As there was no COLA increase yet, medical coverage costs have increased, many were expecting this payment. I did try to find the info for her but, the info I found showed it to have been reffered to the House and Means commitee where it appears to be stalled. I am hoping one of you may be able to give me updated info as to whether or not this has or will find it's way out of "purgatory". Thanks for any info you can help me with.

It didn't pass, but the article I read awhile ago stated Obama was going to figure out another way to make sure seniors receive the stimulus check. The $250 was something he was heavily supporting. The health care reform bill does include a $250 payment for prescription drugs that aren't covered under medicare because of the gap referred to as the "donut hole".

oh how exciting and many of us have sup pharmacy coverage anyway so it isn't really all that high for those who are not on really expensive meds. Thank goodness we are not..

This is one of the few times Obama has done anything that I can give him any credit for, yes he did introduce the $ 250. I hope everyone realizes there will be no SS increase next year either or so was reported last fall.
