That is hilarious. Most every doctor knows that the AMA board is comprised of doctors who accepted perks and bribes. Why do you think AMA membership is down? The AMA is so desperate they sent notices to all of my doctors that their dues were overdue. Interesting since they are not members. Maybe they are hoping some accounts payable people will mistakenly mail in checks. Those clowns fit right into this administration.

Here we are confronted with the famous 'they'.
Will your cousin drive a cab or flip burgers?

I love how the left thinks they are clever by assuming doctors who leave the practice of medicine will be reduced to walmart greeters or fast food workers. It just shows that the left lacks common sense but then most of us already knew that.

too bad the board does not speak for all the members, as most of the members oppose the health care bill.

Default Only 16% of doctors belong to the AMA

Only about 16% of doctors belong to the AMA. Less now that many have withdrawn their membership as a result of the sell-out.

My significant other is an RN who runs a terminal care ward.

She is for the plan. So are most of her friends and colleagues. This is why "My friend/brother/husband/cousin/what-have-you thinks..." type anecdotes are useless. I realize that her and her circle of friends that she works with don't represent everyone in their field, and it's not possible to quantify how many are for or against, especially when our "proof" is second or third-hand hearsay and polls that simply don't represent the majority.

Does your significant other run this ward without doctors? She cannot practice medicine. Would she have a ward to run without doctors?

A couple of interesting observations regarding that "poll". The second quote below (point #4 in the article) in particular seems precisely right. Reporting results before they are all tabulated is NOT proper polling - and reeks of someone attempting to manipulate opinion rather than actually report it.

"As we learned during the Presidntial campaign -- when, among other things, they had John McCain winning the youth vote 74-22 -- the IBD/TIPP polling operation has literally no idea what they're doing. I mean, literally none. For example, I don't trust IBD/TIPP to have competently selected anything resembling a random panel, which is harder to do than you'd think."

...

"They say, somewhat ambiguously: "Responses are still coming in." This is also highly unorthodox. Professional pollsters generally do not report results before the survey period is compete."
