No, it's not 'far fetched" at all unless the American citizen allows it to be. The values talked about are the same today but they are overshadowed by consumerism that takes our gaze away from those who are undermining the very fabric of the American society.

A modified, consumerist sort of capitalism is the only serious doctrine left in the world. It has no credible or powerful ideological opposition, either inside the U.S. or out. Nobody wants to or can do more than tinker around the edges.

From the cartoon: "Today, the automobile industry provides millions of jobs..."

Well...it did in 1948. Today, a good many of those jobs have been shipped overseas in search of higher profits as a result of another one of those "ism's."

Capitalism.

The issue isn't "ism's," it's UNRESTRAINED "ism's" of any kind.
