It will be interesting to see what happens next. November can't come soon enough.

I'd place my bet on the "gun control" square.

No. They will go after immigration especially since there was a big rally there this weekend.

But they won't win this one. Healthcare passed by only 3 votes. And the majority of Americans believe that there should be some kind of healthcare reform. Just not this bill.

Emotions are much higher when it comes to illegal immigrants and amnesty. And now with the mood of the country over this bill, they won't win this one. JMO.

Nope..amnesty is this year..promised by Obama to the thousands of immigrants that marched in DC this weekend.

Tens of thousands rally for immigration reform - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100322/ap_on_re_us/us_immigration_march - broken link)

This is the only issue where I and many other liberals side with the Republicans. NO amnesty.

Sure, let them do it ASAP, while the unemployment is still high. I will fight this one.

He's already stated that's next on his agenda. There was a thread about it just a day or so ago.

Not a smart move on his part. As I already said the mood of the people is not good right now and won't be for a long time. Everytime we hear on the news that the unemployment rate is still up and gas prices keep going up and people can't make ends meet we just get unhappier.

He won't have a chance with this one. And I think he knows it. Why not do it and get it over with. Then he can say he tried.

Political capital? Does it matter anymore?

After watching this debacle unfold over the past few weeks, I'm convinced that if Obama wants it, he'll find a way to get it.

We just witnessed a fiasco of a program get passed. One which does NOTHING to address the true cost of healthcare...merely expands the coffers of insurance and pharm companies, while steering us on a course to true bankruptcy as a country. One which was based of ridiculously faulty numbers, obvious to everyone but the most unwilling to see. One which the majority of Dems opposed, but were (take your pick) cajoled/bribed/threatened to support. And most importantly, one which the majority of Americans opposed.

That something as obviously flawed as this bill was able to pass, at a time when ALL of the attention should have been on the economy, tells me that the public holds no sway. I've never seen politics this partisan, this blatantly out of touch...yet successful. Not good.

Really ? You mean Americans will stand together as "Americans" to voice opposition ?

But he only made it with 3 votes. No way an amnesty bill would even be close. He lucked out on this one. And I think he used all that luck up.
