Thanks to the democrats, congress should become a lot more interesting. Now the old majority is just a game, a simple 1 vote majority is enough to pass any bill now.

I wonder how happy the Dems will be when Repubs pass a massive bill with a simple majority. They will likely be foaming at the mouth considering they were already rabid freaks when Repubs passed bills that were bipartisan with 2/3 majority.

Will be interesting to see.

Err...51/100 has always been a "majority."

ma·jor·i·ty (m-jôr-t, -jr-)
n. pl. ma·jor·i·ties
1. The greater number or part; a number more than half of the total.
2. The amount by which the greater number of votes cast, as in an election, exceeds the total number of remaining votes.
3. The political party, group, or faction having the most power by virtue of its larger representation or electoral strength.
4. Law The status of having reached full legal age, with attendant rights and responsibilities.
5. The military rank, commission, or office of a major.
6. Obsolete The fact or state of being greater; superiority.

Now if you'd said 49%...

Name one that was even 1/4th the size of this one. Also, name one that spent a trillion dollars.

I know it has been done before, but the dems have shown the size or scope of the bill does not matter when it comes to getting a 2/3 majority. All bills are now subject to the simple majority. Will be fun to watch.

I'm all for it. Even when the GOP is in power. Americans are too ignorant and lazy to understand how the filibuster works. All they know is nothing gets done and the Party in power gets blamed.

The filibuster only works when the minority makes a good will effort to work with the majority.

The GOP is far too radical to extend them benefit of this Senate rule.

Bush's tax cuts......

Not to mention that the bill itself was NOT passed through a simple majority in the Senate, it had th 60 votes. The fixes to the bill is going through a simple majority, not the whole bill itself.

51% is a majority. You don't like it, take it up with the founders of Democracy.
