What a thoughtful post, thanks for the wikipedia link. I hate societies that don't value profit over the lives of the poor.

"I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer."

So how much money do you think Obama has personally pocketed? 100, 200 million? A few billion?

Yeah, great point. We're making the poor lazier by giving them the opportunity to keep their health without going broke.

You're deluding yourself if you think healthcare is some frivolous handout to the undeserving, but thanks for that quote you gave from a brilliant man who lived in an absolutely different society where health insurance corporations didn't exist to make a profit off of the lower classes.
