BTW, I believe that most of our states require mandatory car insurance and yet I never heard anyone protest against that.
Rest assured when a state demands mandatory car purchases that necessitate the purchasing of car insurance you'll be hearing plenty of protests.

Sure do.. My in laws- They don't have insurance and do not want it. They make enough money from their business to cover any doctor visits and have money and funds set aside if a bigger emergency were to happen to either of them. Imagine that...people being financially responsible for themselves...who would have thought

Good for them! I hope their good health continues! My (used to be) neighbors owned a couple of stores, travelled the world, had plenty of money, plenty of investments and a big saving account etc etc.
I'm sure you've already guessed what happened - gashed his foot down on his boat dock - got an infection - bedridden for a year. She hurt her back lifting him - their employees cleaned 'em out!
So did the doctors/hospitals/rehab centers/therapists . . .
Closed their business. Sold their house. Lost everything!
NOW she says (about medical insurance ) "If only we had known". . . .

I never said they are 100% healthy- trust me- they have had some issues, but have managed to pay for all medical care thus far, and some pretty big stuff.

House is paid for and it is family owned/ran business so employees will have hard time taking their parents money
Anyway, it may not be ideal, but they don't WANT insurance as the OP asked about
