Yes, that rifle and that pistol will save you from A-10s, F-16s, M1- Abrams tanks, UCAVs, night vision, and on, and on.
What a canard that line of reasoning is. It hasn't applied since the government and the popluation-at-large were on the same footing, weapons tech-wise. You know - like 125-150 years ago.

WWII.
But go tell that to the Iraqis, Afghanis, Vietnamese...
Really? Jody (who also stole your Cadillac and your girl) was cruisin' around in Shermans huh? Flak guns in his back yards Battleships and P-51s?
As far as your "point" about foreign nations, there is no point there, so I'll ignore it.
There was nothing stopping anyone with the money then from having any of that stuff. The primary weapons of the military were available to anyone with the money to buy one.
There's a point you simply wish to ignore: that our mighty military can be beaten by a bunch of poorly equipped and trained guerillas. Against another conventional army ours would likely win, but in an unconventional war our military has a poor track record. We didn't win our own revolution fighting conventionally for that matter.

We fought that war with the same weapons the enemy had. Just less of them. They did not have a marked tech supremacy. They had the numbers, but they were involved in a little dispute with some other guy, do you remember his name? Something about a Little Lion? They would have crushed us if they had been able to bring their full weight down upon us.
And really? I could have owned a p-51 with a full weapons load-out? Golly.

The Germans' main rifle was inferior compared to ours: we used semi-autos primarily, the Germans used a shortened model 1898 Mauser bolt action.
Yes you could have, with enough money. The only federal law at the time was the NFA, which was an expensive $200 tax, no bans on anything per se...

I wasn't taking about our wars with Germany. I was responding to your point about the Revolutionary War, and I haven't seen anyone mention the Hessians... yet.
