Eddie Adams, Florida Republican Candidate, Gets Burned

No, you say. I cannot imagine why. Eddie Adams, Jr. is a conservative, a black American and a Tea Party activist. Why would the press report an attempt on his life ? Black Tea Party supporters do not exist – remember ?
It happened 2 weeks before the presidential election in November of 2008. There is not one single MSM report I have found of this attempt to maim or possibly kill a Republican candidate for U.S. House of Representatives. A local blogger filed this report:
Florida Congressional candidate Eddie Adams Jr. (R) was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Sunday suffering from severe burns on the hands and arms. He will be undergoing additional skin grafts Tuesday.
A vandal tied a mattress to the underside of Mr. Adams pick-up truck. Friction with the road, and contact with the catalytic converter combined to ignite the bedding.
As he drove down Busch Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, onlookers began to wave and shout at him. At first, Eddie assumed that his tireless campaigning was beginning to show results, until, when stopped at the next red light, he began to smell smoke, and he realized with a shock that his truck was on fire. When he opened the door, the flames engulfed the cabin, burning Eddie’s arms.
He tucked and rolled on the ground to put out his flaming clothes. Additional injuries were suffered as he tried to pull the mattress, which he found was deliberately tied to the frame, from the underside of the truck. Good Samaritans rushed to his assistance with fire extinguishers, but the truck was heavily damaged. Undeterred, Eddie will continue his campaigning as much as his recovery will permit.
At this point in the campaign, office workers with the Hillsborough County Sheriff have tallied 90 reports of vandalism against cars with Republican campaign bumper stickers, and 7 such incidents against cars with Democrat bumper stickers. Other incidents include the systematic and widespread vandalism or theft of Republican campaign signs.
Eddie is running against Democrat Kathy Castor.
Ace of Spades was the only major, widely read blog I found to have mentioned it:
Well, someone decided that hanging effigies didn’t go far enough, so (apparently) they affixed a mattress to the underside of Adams’ SUV, where it caught fire, which then spread to the vehicle interior. Adams was hospitalized for the resulting burns and is continuing his campaign.
Did I mention he’s black?
Yep, sure is.
And yet, no one carried this, that I’m aware of, except for local AM 820. Not the Tampa Tribune. Not the (Pulitzer-winning!) St. Pete Times. Not the local broadcast news outlets. Nada.
Let this be a lesson to persons of all races, genders, ethnicities, and religions. Violence against minorities is only outrageous when the political axis of the victim aligns correctly; anything else is a wash.
Eddie Adams, Jr. is back and running again as the Republican candidate for the 11th District of Florida.
His campaign website is here. Support him any way you can.

The Libs & Leftists will continually point fingers to others because it takes the heat off them, the real culprits. They've been doing it for years and it's exactly how the current administration is playing it. They have the audacity to call Conservatives Fascists when it is actually the Democrat party that more closely resembles the Nazis and the SOCIALIST party.

He doesn't count. He's an Uncle Tom because he's black and Republican. Therefore, he's not as important as a black Democrat or even a white Democrat.

I find it hard to believe this wasn't covered in the local newspapers. The crime is sensationalistic enough (a bed mattress used as an ignition source is resourceful for the average criminal) to be sugar for the press' junk food habit.

Your blogger source needed to look a little harder IMHO.

Bet it's a right wingnut trying to pin a wrongdoing on the libs as a badly executed political ploy.

Oh yeah right and he only supports the plight of whitey. Being both from Florida they're obviously on the Bush payroll.

Or, or it could be, and this is just a hunch, but could be maybe they decided to think a little differently and the conclusion they came to was wait a minute, um, nothing has changed. I wonder why? Hmmmmm.....

There is plenty of blame to go around and we better figure it out soon or these 2 parties will turn us into a shadow of what we once were. Both sides can make a case here. So what do we do? Scream at each other ad infinitum? Employ payback tactics for administration after administration?

If we've collectively devolved to that level of cynicism, then seriously, what is the point anymore?

Lastly, which righty is going to report the OP for using the tea-ba**** phrase? Or does that only apply to liberals who use it? We are not allowed to use that phrase here. People are being nailed for it by mods.

Yeah you nailed it. It was all made up. The lamestream media didn't cover it so obviously it's all a huge, flagrant lie.

Local newspapers? This deserved top billing on every newscast across the land.

But.... this would have violated the MSM code of Liberalism.

That's right! It's all a conspiracy. Another one.
