Did Obama not sign the bill that cause cigarette taxes to go up 61 cents or was that just a dream.

"I can make a firm pledge," he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."
He repeatedly vowed "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime."

I totally agree with you. BUt the big shell game is that we don't call it a tax, but rather a "fee" or a "premium" or whatever. You know the bit about the pig wearing lipstick.

ANY politician who has said "NO tax increases" or "NO new taxes" has eventually been proven a liar.
As much as I dislike and distrust obama, I can't fault him for this one.
Sadly, it is just doing what politicians do...

If that is what you are concerned about, than they applies to EVERY republican who provides the lip service of tax cuts while continuing to support regressive taxation on commodity and services, and things like toll roads (the latest fashion in Texas).

I am concerned about taxes and I dont care who they come from. Crist increased them in Fla guess what I dont support him either. Republicans arent excluded from the no raising taxes and keeping your promise rule.

Bottom line Obama promised no tax increase of any kind on those earning less then 250k he broke that within his 1st 30 days but yet some still dont want to accept that.

Thats part of the reason why we are in this mess. Because of people accepting them breaking their promises to us and not holding them accountable

So are you guys past the point of trying to justify 0bama to yourselves by saying he is just like Bush, and have switched to saying your messiah is just like Reagan? What's next, will 0bama be okie-dokie with you as long as you can claim he is just like Sarah Palin?

Serious question:

When and if you somehow are able learn that this Class Act program is voluntary and not a tax,( Not saying that will happen) do you ever say to yourself.:

Man that was stupid of me to think that. I wonder what other myths I believe about this bill?

Or do you skip that step and just go on repeating crap you know nothing about?
Do you still think this is NOT a tax, because Obama is now saying your wrong..

The American Spectator : AmSpecBlog : Obama Admin. Argues in Court That Individual Mandate Is a Tax

I guess we now know the truth about peoples IQ's.. Dont we?

So answer your own question.. do you ever say to yourself.:

Man that was stupid of me to think that. I wonder what other myths I believe about this bill?

Changing Stance, Administration Now Defends Insurance Mandate as a Tax

By ROBERT PEAR

Published: July 16, 2010

WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”
It's difficult to fathom that Progressives just could not see this coming.

Oh wait, then too but you can't really blame him because those lines were written for him so he's just doing as he's told.
it doesnt matter whether obama says anything or not, even his thinking is a lie.

The subject of this thread IS a lie.

This new plan is not a tax increase. It's not a tax at all. It's a flex spending account. And no, I don't want to see some cite that broadly defines a tax as an involuntary application of money deduction. This is money paid into a pool, with a vesting period attached, from which long term care benefits can be taken at no cost to the user. In effect it does what Medicaid failed to do. If you didn't get no cost benefits or vesting, then yes, it would be a tax.

Even still, my read is that employees can opt out of the program. Thus you are not forced to take advantage of it, but you know what? It forces Americans to do the one thing they seem incapable of doing: read the terms and understand your options. I'm sure many hicks will scream fascism when they see they've been auto enrolled into something because they didn't read the documentation handed to them by HR.
shame on you. any time the government collects money from the people, call it a fee, a contribution, a fine, or what ever you want to call it, it is a tax.
