No I don't have that experience. And honorable was definitely the wrong word to use
Than you can't judge them with any accuracy. I do have first hand experience with some, and you're incorrect about them. I will not deny there are some very crazy cult-type ones out there but they are a minority in the movement.

ok, so what are the portraits of the majority in the movement?
I think it used to be that you had to actually commit a crime or have a specific target you talked about before you could be arrested for anything, but now you get arrested for being a part of a labeled group without having committed a crime....hell if they would treat drug dealers this way maybe the streets would be clean, but no they can go sell drugs cuz that ain't really killing people
Plotting physical harm against your fellow americans and government representation is a crime far predating our legal policy on terrorism. I believe they're charged with seditious conspiracy.
Might serve you well to comprehensively understand the difference in meaning key legal terms "sedition" (overt and covert) and "treason". Peeps dancing that line can get themselves in a world of guano.
Protesting displeasure and petitioning the law with ideas is one thing. Libel isn't libel until you're lying, which isn't a protected right of free speech. Threats and intimidation are also not protected rights, they're offenses. This habit of trash talking people have... think better of your words and deeds.
I know that. That's why this is appropriate. Why haven't these guys been rounded up for sedition??
I'll tell you why! THEY ARE MUSLIMS.....A FRIKKIN PROTECTED CLASS!
They can say anything and no one will raid their mosques!!
Makes you feel any better if I were a NYC cop (and I'm not) I'd arrest these fellows. Makes you feel even better than that there are quite a few NYC residents who feel the same. I don't see raiding the mosque as necessary considering they're trying to petition the mosque itself from outdoors.
These are spoiled american kids trying to get 15 minutes of fame by glomming onto others. Kind of like Charles Manson fans. Pathetic, aren't they? Please note the volume of people passing by paying village idiots no mind.
I never stated that they were not still around in the 1900's, but they were largely ineffective as time progressed. I had great respect for the Green Mountain Boys but I don't think a nation could survive with several independent militias in each state.
Worlds policeman like WW 1&2? Imperialist agenda? How so.
Have you not studied American history from the 1890's onward? We most definately pursued an imperialist agenda...note that we took territory ranging from Hawaii (which was an independent kingdom before we took it) to Cuba, the Phillipines, we got involved in Panama, etc. Theodore Roosevelt started us on playing world's policeman, Woodrow Wilson got us heavily involved in world politics and wars, etc. Before that time the militias worked fine.
Some states still have state (non-federal) militias (typically called state guards) but they aren't taken seriously by the states.
I'm of the opinion we won't survive as a nation with this massive, oversized, standing army sucking up resources, made necessary by playing policeman.
Sounds like Timothy McVeigh fits your definition of "well regulated" since he every was armed and trained with a gun, so wouldn't it follow that Timothy McVeigh would have been considered a Militia along with the Hutaree? Sorry these people are dangerous, the 1700's was a different time an place, we don't need all these self annointed militias taking the law into their own hands.
McVeigh was a terrorist who targetted civilians, he was not a militia...
The facts on the Hutaree we have suggest they were set up by an agent provocateur and the case is bogus.
