The Republicans are not christian haters, which you seem to have a problem with. The majority of people in this country believe in God. I take it you think they should have no voice in this country. The Republican Party represents these people.

If you'd like to start a "Is anyone proud to be a Democrat" thread, go for it. In the meantime, please answer the question.

I can't stand either party, so no is my answer. I am however a very proud conservative/Independent and hope a third party with some fiscal sense comes to power in my lifetime.

after watching the democratic party swing this far to the left, i can only say that i am actually proud not to be a democrat now.

let's face it, both republicans and democrats have been pushing for bigger government to the point where it is clearly starting to endanger our jobs and our freedoms.

no thanks to all big government pushers in both parties.

Oh...so I am a Christian hater...thanks for the moniker and I'm glad you thought this out and made an association based on in-depth thought and knowledge. You are obviously a master of "assertion".

Look, I'm not a Christian hater at all; however, certain elements of the Religious Right have far too much influence upon the Republican Party. This undue influence came to fruition during the administration of Bush 1. The Reagan Administration held them at bay much to the consternation of Falwell and company. Some of their agenda includes things that would infringe upon individual liberites.

Now, Christians do have their rights as guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. I would gladly stand side by side with Christians to defend this country against those who would destroy it. I would fight to preserve Christians of all denominations freedoms to worship as they wish. I will also fight to preserve the freedoms of others to worship another religion as they wish or not worship at all. I will fight to ensure this country establishes no national religion. As a matter of fact, as a 20-year retiree of the US Air Force, I have already done so. However, the Pat Robertsons of the world cannot be allowed to attempt legislative action to impose their own morals upon the American public anymore than the socialist/communists in the Democrat party be allowed to impose their own "values" upon the American people. It's a simple as that.

I swear, some of you are just as bad as the Liberals you like to bash. If someone doesn't agree with you, they are "haters". Sorta like the libs calling some you "racists".

I did not say you were a christian hater, I said you seem to have a problem with christians. Ron Paul is a Libertarian and could not get elected in the Republican party because Libertarians also believe in gay marriage, legalizing all drugs, pro-choice and against all welfare. None of which sits well with conservatives. Libertarians is more like, every man for himself.

Well, thanks for changing that in your original post. You are right...Libertarianism is more a matter of every man for himself, especially in personal matters. Now, it isn't so much a matter of saying "we should legalize x,y,and z" (thought there are some Libertarians who do say that), for most, it is more a matter of saying that the people of the states, counties and municipalities should be able to decide these things for themselves without the interference of the federal government.

Unfortunately what some people want to do harms society as a whole. Take drug use. People do drugs, become ill, diseased or mentally deranged and WE have to pay the tab. I would be all for legalizing all drugs if they are on their own and are not entitled to any public assistance. Let the druggies take care of each other. If life is a free-for-all, with no regard to society, they should be left to their own devices.

Libertarians should not take over the Republican Party or the Republican Party would no longer exist. Libertarians are a small minority for a reason.
