There will be no new jobs. Leases won't even be issued until 2017. As usual with Obama, nothing but more lies.

Considering the enormous amount of clout that environmentalists have within the Democratic party (right behind trial lawyers and unions), this is much ado about nothing, since the environmentalists are bound to challenge and delay any attempts at drilling for years to come.

Comparing Obama to JFK is extremely idiotic; Obama's 'social justice' and nonstop job killing practices (the new CAFE standards will be a disaster for the Detroit Three) are just two things that JFK would never initiate.

JFK also never had a problem with Americans trying to improve their standards of living, something that Obama is extremely opposed to unless you're a trial lawyer or union member.

Obama is going to extend our Great Recession just as long as FDR extended the Great Depression by his nonstop streak of anti economic practices, including his signing of the Taft Hartley Act and the National Labor Relations Act.

The rise in our deficits is bound to accelerate thanks to this job-killing health care boondoggle, and those income projections from the CBO will turn out to be much too high, which will lead to more tax increases, a la Hoover, FDR & Carter.

FDR did everything he could to raise prices and prop up failed businesses (a la Obama), and shovelled millions of dollars into public works projects, which have never been noted for stimulating economic growth.

Coming from Illinois, a state whose financial conditions are unquestionably just as bad or worse than California, Obama is as illiterate about the relationships between taxes, frivolous lawsuits, environmental extremism and business development as many high-profile Democrats.

Default Obama takes up Sarah's chant...

"Drill baby drill"

Problem is this proclaimation is smoke and mirrors. Net affect is to place the best oilfields off limits and allow the questionable areas to be considered as they are subject to tougher EPA standards. You will never see any drilling take place as a result of this news!!!. Environmental impact statement will be held up and challenged for years. Local opposition will sway politicians. Screw the country, let's sacrifice more service men and women for the the stability of the oil fields in the middle east. nothing like a scheming slime ball of a president to mess around like this for an as yet unannounced final agenda. "Hop in the car and let's go for a ride...." to where?

This new drilling policy is equivalent to "allowing" a straight F high school student to apply for admission to Harvard! What's the probability of that student being accepted? ZERO....

Perhaps because Bush had a history of starting 'projects' without thinking them through clearly? Not to mention not bothering how to figure out how to pay for them.
I know that his desire to sell US seaports to Dubai did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling, so, I had no desire to see any part of off-shore drilling managed by his administration, particularly given his 'intimate' relationship with the Saudis.

You are right to not be fooled, Sanrene.

Obama has canceled four lease sales that were set to begin producing in two years off the Alaska coast.

He delayed a planned lease for 2012 off the Virginia coast.

He placed some other areas as "off limits" for the next, at least seven years.

It wont happen this is nothing more then a plan to make you think he is "moderate" for the voters come november. Also I see no reason to limit drilling to just the coast. Alaska and other places should be drilled in case of another major hurriance season which can pamper drilling.
Also, this so called proposed "drilling area" hasnt been explored!!! We know where the oil is and can drill NOW!! This nothing more then bait to get you distracted from the healthcare bill and his disapproval rates. They will delay the actually drilling when they do years of STUDY which will be government FUNDED creating government jobs. Obama is a radical leftist and this is nothing more the smoke and mirrors.

He did the same thing with the nuclear plant which has to go thru years of government oversight and regulation and permits. Obama will be out of office by the time that ever comes to VOTE! But he knows that and makes up this public display Energy independance when he has no intention of doing anything that goes against the global "warming theory" Even if he does want energy independance its so government can control it.
