In no way are these people are any form of “sheeple”. They are speaking their own opinions based on their experiences and observations. They spoke their minds and were listened to by everyone present. It was a very civilized meeting.
Sounds just like a Tea Party meeting.
Did you all come up with a derogatory nickname for your group too?
The primary topic at the New Hampshire Coffee Party meeting last weekend was a discussion of the perception that the government did not work for the citizens of the country and that the Coffee Party would, by discussion, figure out where the government was failing and then develop ways of convincing our Representatives to do something about the failure. I pointed out that the government was working with great efficiency supporting the need and goals of a very small fraction of the people that owned the military and energy sectors at great cost to the rest of us. Most agreed with this assessment.
We will have another meeting (there is a possibility that this will only be a social gathering but in our atomized society social meetings are better than nothing) to discuss ways to implement the Health Care Law in a manner that will change it from another financial subsidy to the Insurance companies into a universal health care system. When the party grows into a significant political force we will be able to discuss such failures as our Imperial ambitions in the Middle East and South America.

I think the Coffee Party has an interesting and bright future. I am certainly going to support it because my Democratic Party has been hijacked by the financiers and corporate entities that own the Republican Party and serve those masters and not the rest of us.
I see it as nothing more than a teenage click mentality that can't get past its own arrogance concerning issues. They claim they disagree with the Tea Party, yet they disagree with an imaginary figure of what they believe Tea Party is which makes them look foolish to anyone who informs themselves past head lines and political propaganda.
So, if they are what they claim, then they are simply are sheep as they have not the devotion to their cause to put down political antics. If they believe the spin about the Tea Party, then they are the political antics.
Personally, I think it is simply a position of immaturity to which due to its extreme partisanship, is unwilling to stand with those they dislike, even on issues that are shared their political counterparts. Its like the self absorbed people who change their decision when they see someone they personally dislike choose in a similar fashion. They exist simply because they wouldn't be caught dead with the Tea Party because they ignorantly view the party as Republican, racist, and hate mongering. Its a movement based on ignorance and arrogance in my opinion, nothing more. If the Tea Party did not exist, nor would this group. They simply exist to oppose the Tea Party, nothing more.

Wow, something you and I actually agree on
The rest of it, not so much. Are the members of the TEA movement willing to stand with those they disagree with? I've not seen any evidence of this.
Are you saying that all of that video evidence of the TEA members holding up disparaging signs and spewing foul-mouthed invective towards elected officials and others they disagree with are edited/dubbed/photo-shopped? If that is not the image that the TEA movement wants to present to the country, why then do they go to such lengths to provide fuel for those fires?
From my perspective, the core difference between the TEA movement and the Coffee members is how each regards the government. I do not believe that our government is the enemy. I do not believe that our government exists simply to usurp my freedoms. I do not believe that the current president wants to assert absolute control over the populace. I do not believe that any/all taxation is bad. I do believe that it is possible to have constructive dialogue with people who have different points of view without name-calling and hyperbolic rhetoric. And, I do believe that our country will survive, and survive well, long past the lifetimes of any/all of us on this forum.
If that makes me 'ignorant' and 'arrogant', so be it.
I thought everybody already knew that the "Coffee Party" has been discredited. The founder, Annabel Park, worked directly on Obama's campaign, as well as that of Virginia Democrat Jim Webb.
The "Coffee Party" really is - to use the lefty term - "Astroturf". It's as manufactured as a movement can get, and there's nothing "grassroots" about it. You've all been scammed.
Its funny that the Coffee Party has vanished from the political radar even faster than anybody had thought it would.

Annabel Park has never made a secret of the fact that she was an unpaid volunteer for the Obama campaign. It's right on her website. And how does this discredit her in anyway?
