Tempest in the Tea Party | Mother Jones

Conservative activists decry GOP consultants for dropping $1,600 on a fancy meal—while hijacking their grassroots movement.
There was even $2,000 in speaking fees for Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher

He's (Robin Stublen) outraged that of the nearly $2 million the group has raised this year, almost half ($857,000) has gone to consulting firm Russo Marsh or people connected to it. He suspects that most donors to Tea Party Express support the movement but have no idea their money is actually going to the very type of mainstream political operation the Tea Partiers oppose.

Yup, that's how misinformed they all are.

Just more proof that the Teabaggers only got interested in politics when that black guy got in the White House and have no clue what they're doing or where to direct their "energy" and money, and the wolves have been way ahead of them the whole time. The whole Tea Party business was corporate product to start with. Why the big surprise? They're used to donating instead of acting (see Televangelists).

Feel better about your failed Democrats now?

As much as you wish it were true, the Tea Party is not a party. It is a movement of concerned citizens taking to the streets to protest a government in rebellion to the people and the Constitution by which we allow the government to function.

OK, I'm done. You can back to mindlessly slandering patriotic Americans.

Uh, no. You can't co-opt yourself and your own creation. The Tea Party isn't a grassroots organization, although most people I've met who've gone (and then quit going) to tea party events thought so. It was a creation of a couple of Republican lobbying/PR firms, headed by Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich.

Of course momonkey thinks this is slander of patriots. Somehow these people didn't start protesting when;

George Bush bailed out the banks in Sept '08 (note, he was still President then.

George Bush bailed out GM (not too much though, just enough so that if they did crater it would be after he left office

The Medicare prescription bill got "rammed through at midnight" and the floor leader (Republican) left Congress about a day later to become a couple of million dollar a year PHARMA lobbyist. Oh, and this was UNFUNDED (i.e; OFF THE BOOKS)

Neither war in Afghanistan or Iraq was funded.

No allowance was made for the increasing casualties that led to the almost collapse of Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the VA system.

Not a peep when the chief aide to the VP outed a covert CIA agent.

Not a peep about Abu Gharib. Except from Limbaugh and Rummie comparing it to "frat boy pranks".

Not a peep when Rummy BRAGGED about the US forces FAILING TO OBEY EVERY MILITARY RULE by not maintaining order when Baghdad was being looted by mobs. "Democracy is messy". Hint, that wasn't democracy. If you think it was then you must not be familiar with the term democracy.

Not a peep from any of these patriots by any of these assaults on the budget, nothing about "saddling our grandkids with debt", no outrage about any of the above. So, how come you were quiet while all this was going on?

Of course once the big lobbying firms saw their power receeding, once Armey and Gingrich provided the seed money, and Fox started running promos for it 24/7, THEN it became a good idea and patriotic to speak up? Why did it take you FRAUDS so long to start protesting?

Answer the question momonkey, WHY DID YOU NOT SPEAK UP THEN?

I really want to know. Can you answer?

Why not speak up when all this was going on under Bush?

Why is it such a big deal to you now, but wasn't then?

Most people do not belong to any "formal" tea party group so I don't understand the relevance of your follow the money post. The real movement is grass roots and not ruled by any political party.

....and the people with ties to the big groups will organize everything and tell you where and when to show up protest. We know.

You are entitled to your opinion but if you haven't walked a mile in the shoes of a grass roots tea party person, you are speculating.
