1) Streets are so empty ,without even stray animals...
99% there was prohibition of traffic ,which the "civilians " violated...
2) The troops cannot afford the critical time to clarify if an object is a weapon or not...
The compelling factor is the degree of suspicion for those drifters/jaywalkers...
The camera could well be an IED,a custom made missile launcher...
They r not mazochists,to...wait & see...
3) In a war,accidents happen...In Kuwait ,Apaches hit Bradleys,killing Amer soldiers...
The issue is to serve the high ideals of liberation,security & democracy.
Now Iraq is the 2nd civilised democracy in the ME,after Israel.

When you say "our troops" do you mean Israeli troops are US troops? Both?
