Irrelevant really, as the Confederates beat a far better equipped, trained and manned force for fully half the war, and even after Gettysburg victory for the North often seemed unlikely. The British also came very close to assisting the Confederates, which would have turned things around.

I see nothing to celebrate in Lincoln's murder of over 600,000 people in his quest to hold onto power.

Actually, the Confederates had a defensive strategy to begin with. They did not desire an offensive war against Northerners. I suggest you study the war more.

There's never a winner in a civil war.

LOL you're a hoot. The British were never going to join the side of the Confederacy. They had outlawed slavery years before.

The Confederates won 1/2 the war? What in full reverse, mostly on their own soil, with declining stocks of munitions and available warriors.

Gettysburg was the ultimate "Hail Mary" and it fell flat on it's face. The one and only major Confederate offensive effort and Lee ended up with his dick in his ear.

Yeah, I suppose that's why so many southerners keep on getting elected president.

Oh BTW, LInconln, that "hero" Makes bush seem like an angel and constitutional law disciple given his extreme violations of the constitution in conducting the civil war.

Obviously you have little knowledge about the war and how it proceeded...

The British in fact very nearly supported the Confederacy. The Confederacy offered to end slavery in exchange for recognition and aid. Public opinion only turned against the Confederacy after the Emancipation Proclamation (despite the fact it didn't end slavery in border states while the Confederacy offered an absolute end to slavery in exchange for help).

The Confederates repelled the Union until Gettysburg. The Union attempted invasion and lost horribly. The Union was so desperate as late as 1864 and 1865 to end the war Lincoln wanted Confederate leaders assasinated.

Have you never heard of the First Battle of Bull Run? About the Union being thoroughly routed and all the politicians from DC fleeing after trying to watch the battle? About how the top general of the Union thought logs were artillery and was too afraid to invade? A couple examples. The incompetence of General Burnside and his charge into a hole deserves mention too.

Some sources say Lee was ill and not with it during Gettysburg, which may account for a rather foolish mistake. Had he not made that one error, he likely would have wiped out the Union forces that day and the entire North would have been wide open to invade.

I'm not sure you understand what the war was about.

You keep harping on the fact that the war was mostly on Southern soil. Why wouldn't it have been on Southern soil? The South wasn't fighting to gain Northern territory. The South wasn't fighting to get any resources from the Northern states. The North was fighting to force the South to stay in the Union. So obviously, the battles would be in the South, and not the North.

Actually both sides lost. Hundreds of thousands of lives, an economy teetering on the edge, currency inflated and in danger of becoming worthless. No one wins in a civil war. No one wins when a country divides and fights itself. The birth of a truly racist mentality, the first terrorist group (KKK), a government with little check on its power anymore, etc.
