Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican regarded as among the most conservative of U.S. Senators, defended Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- at least on a personal level -- and took a swipe at Fox News, a favorite outlet for many conservatives.

[W]hen someone in the crowd said the new health care law would mean a person not buying insurance could go to prison, Coburn replied, "that makes for good TV news on Fox but that isn't the intention."

Americans should "make sure we have a debate in this country, so that you can see what's going on and make a determination for yourself," Coburn said in audio clips picked up by Capital News Connection. "So don't catch yourself being biased by Fox News that somebody is no good. The people in Washington are good. They just don't know what they don't know."
As I like to say, the "progressives "/ socialists do not win politically because of the ideological superiority of socialism, but because of the ...sparkling intelligence of their Republican opponents...
In a comments covered by KGOU in Oklahoma City, Coburn emphasized that he was "180 degrees in opposition" to Pelosi's politics. But when someone in the crowd said the new health care law would mean a person not buying insurance could go to prison, Coburn replied, "that makes for good TV news on Fox but that isn't the intention." However, he said, individuals will have to prove that they have health insurance to the satisfaction of the Internal Revenue Service.
Curious choice of words and for some reason he doesn't go on to elaborate as to what the true "intention" might be.
Letting everyone know that the IRS will be on the job probably allayed many concerns

The healthcare bill that passed, strictly prohibits the IRS from jailing anyone for not paying their fine. As a matter of fact, it doesn't allow the garnishment of wages to pay the fine, or lien being placed against your property, or the taking of your checking account, or the seizure of your property.
They actually have no way of enforcing the fine.
I posted that earlier this week, and Republicans ignored it. Its actually in the bill.
In a sense, its like driving as fast as you want to, through town. Sure, the cop can pull you over, and give you a ticket, but they have no means of enforcing the fine on the ticket. You don't have to pay it.
Funny when these politicians lecture people on who and what to believe..and even boldly do it while engaging in their own brand of double talk.
