I was going over some statistics about different cities in the USA. I was shocked to find the poverty rate of Blacks in Minneapolis to be extremely high, even for the Midwest. I would expect this in places like Detroit or Gary. I know there is more to the situation than meets the eye. I would like to here everyone's point of view.
I am not trying to stir up any problems. I am just curious to what other people have to say about it because I would never envision Minneapolis in that way.

I'm from Mpls. All I know is that many blacks from Chicago area moved to Mpls, as Mpls is a liberal place. Don't jump on me. Born and raised there and that seems to be the story.
Could be discrimination, based on what I just said.

Actually, MN is kinda strange. They have this thing there called "Minnesota Nice," and I even heard nightly news anchors refer to this. IMHO, it's more like Minnesota Ice. They even have/had a transplant club for outsiders, as it's hard to get "in" there with people. 75% of Minnesotans stay there, so it breeds a weirdness.
I'd say more, but it's not PC and, after all, I am from Minnesota

It was a shock to me because I never imagined the poverty rate among blacks in Mpls being that high. I would expect this out of places like Cleveland and Detroit(actually, Detroit's poverty rate among blacks is 32%). Mpls is somewhere around 45%
