he pushed NAFTA, so not so much in my book. sometimes policies implemented take a while to actually hurt you. (although he was better than bush, clinton, or obama so i guess that is worth something).
Bill Clinton was a good politician. I'll give him that. But a good President? Before I can give him that kind of glowing review, i'd rather just say that he was in the right place at the right time. The IT boom created a new revenue stream that was never available to the United States before, therefore he had the resources to make some improvements in our budgetary and fiscal discipline. He was also the beneficiary of the giant vacuum that occured as a result of the end of the Cold War, which helped fuel 8 years of relative peace. Unfortunately, radical Islam militants were ignored under his watch, so for that reason I can't give him a "good" designation. I'd say he was in the right place at the right time, but that's as far as I will go.

Well, NAFTA actually helped me, so, I like President Clinton. I guess I should thank President Bush also, because if he hadn't screwed up the economy, I wouldn't have gone back to school.

I'm one of those stories that some Republicans hate hearing.
I had a job, but they outsourced in 2002. I worked driving a fork lift for a paper company that outsourced to Canada. A little known part of NAFTA, is the workforce investment act. It allowed for displaced workers to go back to college, and get a two year degree. It not only paid for the tuition, but the cost of living while going to school, by extending unemployment benefits for two years.
So, when I went home for Christmas break, I got a ride with my mom. We stopped at a store, and she looked at the headlines on the local newspaper "International Paper closing down". I was surprised to say the least.
Anyway, I worked there till they laid me off, in April. I had been to school previously, but dropped out due to bad decisions. Anyway, I took those credits, and went to school for one and a half semester, and finished a 3 semester degree in 2005. I then went on, got a great job, make tons of money, and have since paid back, in taxes, entirely everything that the government gave me over those two years.
Thats how NAFTA helped me. But if the Bush economy hadn't gone to in the tank, I would have never been laid off, and I wouldn't have gone to school again either.
