I am a conservative and wouldn't drive a Hummer even if I could afford one. They just use too much gas. I heard it is like 4 miles to the gallon or something like that. I would rather not go to the gas station every few days.
Funny about this thread because both the Prius and the Hummer H2 have negative symbolism for me------------two sides of the same coin: holier than thou eco terrorism and 'in your face' (little boy) machismo, respectively.
The above stated: neither the Hummer H1 (military based) nor the Honda Civic Hybrid evoke the same feelings.
I don't know why anyone would criticize a fuel efficient car. It makes no sense unless you have some dumb redneck agenda to associate fuel efficient with liberal. Why is saving money and saving the environment a liberal thing? Would it kill you if trucks were made more fuel efficient? Don't you rednecks hunt, camp and enjoy the environment? So don't you care that we try to take care of it?

They don't give good gas mileage, but it's quite a bit better than 4 mpg. Probably more like 10 mpg (not sure of the exact figure).
Anyway, I don't care for them; I prefer limousines.
I don't know. Reading the entries on the Urban Dictionary, it sure sound like a lot of conservatives bash the Prius as a car for liberals - along with the usual anti-gay comments, of course.

I don't think it is a conservative issue or a liberal issue, you either want to save gas, money and the environment or not, others may have a need for a Hummer based on location. A Prius is probably more practical in town, but not to practical for hunting, camping or a Montana winter.
why does this always turn into a tit for tat conservative vs. liberal? un damn believable.
