How does a WASP make a equal decision in minority cases when they don't have the experience of being in the minority? Don't give me that follow the law crap, its not that simple. Everything is not black and white (pun not intended).
How does a minority member, never having been a member of the majority group make the best ruling on all other cases?
In my opinion Kagan is clearly an overachiever who's academic achievements and shrewd calculated moves throughout her career should obviously land her a seat on Obama's court. She's from good socialist stock.
Wow!
Now working hard, doing well in school, and distinguishing yourself on the basis of individual merit are all socialist traits?
Is anyone going to argue that Kagan is MORE qualified than someone like Richard Posner???
Obviously many more vastly qualified people were overlooked.
They don't give a damn about all that. They just want to accept whatever or whoever Obama tries to weasel in. Surely THEY can't think that there is anyone who could be better because of anything that Obama might have just overlooked, for whatever reason.
The bigoted argument that Kagan should be rejected because she's (possibly) a lesbian would be laughable if it weren't so ridiculously prejudiced. If you think that being gay will have too much influence over her decisions, then what's to stop someone from arguing that ANYONE should be disqualified?
A black judge might be biased toward blacks. A Jewish judge might favor Jews. An Italian judge might favor Italian-Americans. And on and on.

Oh yes, good socialist stock indeed! Or did you totally forget this part?
Quote:
Under Wilentz’s direction, Kagan spent her senior year conducting research for her thesis on the history of the socialist movement, which was titled “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900–1933.” Her thesis has been criticized by her opponents for revealing sympathies with the Socialist Party and became a source of controversy when she was a potential nominee for Associate Justice David Souter’s seat on the Supreme Court last spring — a position which instead went to Sonia Sotomayor ’76 — and when she was nominated for her current position of solicitor general in January 2009.
I hope nothing. What I expect is there to be an upsurge in antisemitism. The far left and the far right views and their hatred of Jews will give obama "permission" to be more antiisrael is antisemitism becomes more mainstream, as both the far left and the far right have problems with jews being in positions of power.
I dont know where you get these peculiar presumptions; Obama is not "anti-Israel" and to say the far left has problems with Jews is just... laughable.... not sure about far right Jews but there are millions of sensibly conservative Jews.

I keep searching your post, trying to find some sign that you're being sarcastic or facetious, or ironic, but I'm not finding it.
Could it really be that, contrary to what rest of the entire right-wing world says about socialism, which is that it suppresses individual effort and achievement in a misguided effort to provide equality of outcomes to all, regardless of effort or ability, your understanding of socialism is that it is a means for detecting the most talented, intelligent, and hard-working and providing them with individual rewards commensurate with their gifts, efforts, and achievements?
That's really what you said. If that's what you think you've really gone through the looking-glass.
