I'm sorry, but economic growth since ~2001 has absolutely been a bubble. The 90's had solid economic growth. We had a stock market bubble in the late 90's, but the U.S. stock market is miniscule compared to U.S. mortgage markets, and the so-called "shadow banking system".
When you give out easy loans, free money, you drive up demand for everything -- cars, textiles, oil, tennis shoes, houses, jewelry, boats, food... you name it. You're putting people to work, growing the economy, based on debt.
Problem is, you've gotta pay that money back in the future. This means you are creating long-term deflationary pressure caused by the repayment of all that debt. That means employers have to turn around and fire all those autoworkers, gypsum miners, construction workers, etc., that they hired during the unsustainable debt bubble.
Don't be sorry, just read post #53. And realize that there was a recession from March to April, 2001. And realize that the tax cuts helped the economy, like they always do.

The strategy in the fall for the dems is to run against Bush.
I love that strategy...go for it.
