The Military is sworn in to protect the United States and the Constitution. I do agree that they should respect the the office of the Commander in Chief. As far as paying them the President does not pay them we do. The Military does not work for the POTUS they work to protect us. Military personal should be able to publicly disagree with issues that the POTUS supports outside of Military issues.

There's really no legal dispute here, the marine had the right to say what he did.

This guy is expressing his own personal views on his own personal Facebook page so it really is none of our business whether he's anti-Obama, anti-Bush or anti-SpongeBob SquarePants

It appears that he is not in violation of the rules imposed by the military in this situation. I think it's in very bad taste but if he is not in violation of any rules or laws I have to vote yes in this poll.

I wonder how many members of military personnel posted negative comments about Bush during his 8-year term....

Nonsense!

While the Commander in Chief is due all the respect of his office when a member of the military in his presence, there is absolutely no reason why a member of the U.S. military cannot, as a citizen, criticize any President for his policies, as long as that criticism is not done in connection with their military service, i.e, showing up at Teabagger rallies holding Obama as Hitler posters WHILE in uniform.

You can respect the position but not the person in it. I have worked for many idiots over my life and what I say when I am not in work about them is my business. He has every right to voice his opinion. Hundreds just like him have died protecting his and all of our rights to disagree with the government.
