Elena you are right!
Albanians are known for their hospitality and they still feel grateful for the US intervention to save the Kosova albanians from the serb attrocities.
Are we still playing jokes? try this one:

Who is he ??
I put in this list names from people outside the country and i bold the names from people you know them in Usa.
These people can not help that country ,his government should do it and they (politicians ) do not.
What did the italian people here in Usa for Italy?I dont think they did much but Italy is a power now because they , who lived there ,did well .
Just my opinion

You are right Italy needs no help,Albania does .We got in touch with relatives thanks to this man we asked if we could help financially.Meaning money for food, clothing etc. These people said yes they need 25,000 dollars so they could by a house, car etc.Needless to say they got nothing. The albanian govt.has our property they refuse to give it back to us.The land is owned by the govt.Know anybody who can help?I was told this property is now a reservoir

Several years ago NATO forces lead by the USA bombed Serbia in order to protect ethnic Albanians in Kosovo (south Serbia) from the Serb military.

Today USA is the major supporter of Kosovo Albanians independence from Serbia (on the other side is, of course, Russia, supporting Serbs).

There are also some historical reasons - after the WWI, USA disallowed partition of Albania among its neighbors, etc.

Albanians have good reasons to support the USA – represented by Mr Bush on this occasion. It really has nothing to do with being poor, fascist, backward, dictatorship, etc. as suggested above.

Tirana (Albanian capital) named a boulevard after George W Bush, while Pristina (capital of Kosovo) has a Bill Clinton Boulevard.

Last but not least, Albanians are (predominantly) Muslim nation, and these scenes of Muslim people heartily welcoming the US president are great for the USA to change a bit the picture of Americans among Muslims (USA = anti-Islamic devil or whatever).

Cheers

Well said CroatW with the exception of Kosovo being described as being in "south serbia". Never was, never will be...by political force maybe but that's soon to change. A ouple of weeks ago I met up with a croatian man who works as a vet, here in the UAE. Very smart man, after telling him that I was an Albanian from Kosova he said that he hopes we get the long overdue independence.

Cheers to that!
