Because racism is typically looked down upon in intelligent society. Also some people can't even admit it to themselves that they're prejudiced. They prefer to think that they're "color-blind," which is also usually a fantasy.
Why don't you tell us, ec. Why are you afraid to admit it?
OMG!!! Its swagger I was hoping you would show up. Still calling me a racist I see hows that brother in law doing. Do you have something enlightening to add.
Who actually holds a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race? I guess there might be someone out there, but I doubt that they represent more than maybe 1% of the population.
Now if you say that there are those who may believe in some stereotypes and hold some general views about certain groups of people is "racist", then everyone is probably "racist" in some regards. But then again that is not the real definition.
Hell, the people who are always claiming that others are racist are "racist" by the assumption mentioned immediately above. Anyway, I would love to hear some nutjob actually state that one race is superior to another based upon, well, race.
I know a few racists who do admit it. Why do you ask?
Well it seems to me that if someone believes in something like that they should let others know so they stay away from them. Co workers and people in thier town. As for politicians especially GOP in SC they would not lose but a few votes easily made up by the votes they would pick from racist on the sidelines. It just seems thier life would be a lot easier if they admitted it. Its not like they would lose any friends.
Who do the ones you know admit it to?

Your OP suggests that no one admits to being a racist; it's an assertion. It's a false assertion, as I showed in my post.

Anyone who asks, but the nazi flags in the living room window, or the word "hater" tattooed on the neck, or playing "she's f***ing a n***er" on the juke box when a black walks into the bar, are dead give-aways.
Blacks already assume that everybody is racist so there's no need to admit it.
