It seems that 30 million people will "get" to pay more taxes next year. Not income taxes but Obama didn't say just income taxes in his promises. Maybe the Senators are just breaking with him but I don't think so.

30 million. Do we have that many making over $250,000? I never really thought that that could be true.

He promised a lot of things, many fallen on the wayside and forgotten.

Such is the life of a politician..say what they want to hear to get the votes. Once you are in office, then anything goes.

They'll rev back up the "promise" machine near election time. Too bad many will forget and will vote based on the "hope" of the new promises.

It's not Obama's fault if he breaks a promise and raises taxes. The responsibility lies with George Bush.

Everything bad from now on is George Bush's fault. That's anything, anywhere. I thought everyone knew that.

What's this? A politician not keeping a promise? Forgive me if I forget to gasp.

I've always said, I don't have problems with higher taxes if it means a better quality of life.

From your link:

But in the case of the AMT and estate tax, congressional Democrats have broken with Obama and promise that after two years of deficit-financed alternative minimum tax and estate tax cuts, Congress will have to come up with the money.

Uh, before the goose gets ahead of the gander...from the article:

Quote:
The looming tax hikes result from the structure of President George W. Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax bills, whose provisions generally expire at the end of this year. Obama promises to fully extend them except for individuals earning more than $200,000 a year and couple making $250,000 a year.
And households that make over $250,000/yr make up just under 4% of ALL income earners. Individuals making more than $200,000 account for just over 3% of ALL income earners.

Congress has been saying the same thing for the past 15 years. When...when will it happen. Immediately after one of the worst financial disasters and in the toddler stage of a recovery? Or will it be put off again, like Republican and Democrats have always done to another day...as in this case which would probably be the most prudent thing to do.

See what I mean. It's George Bush's fault.

How predictable was that.
