Hot, busty babes and guys (good guys vs bad guys) with guns shooting at each other. Plenty of explosions, screeching tires, fist-fights, etc. all calculated to thrill the viewer.
Don't forget the 1 black guy. A brotha who can deliver a good one liner or two.

Besides the obvious, I have another theory. Since young men these days, that go to the movies don't have to serve in the military, they can't relate to them. And the ones that are writing them, are the same types. That's why so many "hero" and "leading man" types in movies today, look like mama's boys that just stepped out of prep school and/or have their nails buffed once a week.

Hmmm. When I was in the military I still remember going to movies. Maybe things have changed recently..

LOL. We haven't had an active draft in decades. And is that really what you want? Compulsory service? But OMG "socialist Europeans" do THAT!. America is "different" remember?

Anyway, nice set of stereotypes you live by! Must be nice to see everything in black and white with no shades of grey. Utter laziness.

Why does Hanna Montana sell more concert tickets than the Ring of the Nibelung?

Erin Brockovich
Thank You for Smoking
Three Kings

The Grapes of Wrath

Avatar is a tree-huggy envirofascist movie. That didnt do too well, did it? For children, Wall-E regarding fat brainless consumers umbilically attached to their TVs....

Michael Moore's movies have done extraordinarily well (and continue to do well on DVD through the years), have broken records for theatrically released documentaries and created a boom in that field. Thanks, Mike! Before him there was Hearts and Minds....

lots of great movies that "bash" misguided American political and corporate policies and reactionary social behavior. MASH.... In the Heat of the Night.... The Accused....
Rep to you...good list of movies.

I also like "Born on The Fourth of July" which was totally anti-war. Not a Jon Voight fan these days, but "Coming Home" was also a good one.

Those aren't the worst - they're the pizza of movies. No surprises, no challenges and not really worth going out of your way for - but when you come across a well-made one, it can be surprisingly satisfying.

I'd rather see 5 of those made than one "star vehicle" Eddie-Murphy-in-a-fatsuit comedy or TV-series spinoff, number II. ("Sex in the City", I'm looking in your direction.) That's junk. It's also money in the bank, sadly. "Norbit" made more in a week than "Babel" will over its lifetime.
