"In Germany, he recalls, an enemy was created to explain the crisis which was the Jew. 'Here they are the illegal immigrants and blacks. We will say that white men are a persecuted minority. We will say that we must uphold and defend the honor of the nation. Military force will be exalted. There will be blows. This could be converted into an undeniable force. And if it takes place, it will be more dangerous than Nazi Germany. The United States is a world power ... I do not believe that this is far from happening,' he says."
Every time I am in San Francisco, New York or Miami and I reminded of the Weimar Republic in Germany in the mid to late 20's.
You forgot your "Bush is Hitler" sign, and a call to return to a less intrusive government, decreasing the national debt, and following more closely to the US Constitution is wacko talk, and the worst part of the far right-wing.
That is true. Once the useless racist generation born between 1935 and 1955 bite the dust and go to Hell, the country will be far better under the leadership of Generations Y and X who do not have the homophobia, racism or hate that the earlier generations have.
Wow. what a well thought out, intelligent statement! I am one of the "useless racist generation", and I must assume you, up on Mt. Olympus, are from a far more enlightened generation. I bow to such intellectual brilliance and profound thought.

That's already happening, but it's because of black on black crime in Chicago, and military force is being exalted by Dems.

Cynia is among the 113 Chicagoans killed by violence so far this year, in a city where police officers are admittedly stretched to their limits.
It's the same number of deaths registered by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for the same time period. Some state lawmakers say the violence at home now requires similar military back-up.
..."When kids from the South Side and West Side have to worry about getting to and from school alive, there is something wrong with that," Fritchey said.

Sounds like you think predominantly liberal places are a "sign" of impending Nazism?!
Although seriously, even though I like Chomsky, it seems like he does have a tendency to get a bit "apocalyptic" in his criticisms of conservatism and neo-capitalist trends. No question there's alot of fear and anxiety these days, which makes folks vulnerable to demagogues and "permanent solutions". We may not have a our own version of a "Hitler" (yet), but that doesn't mean one couldn't appear, given sufficient "demand". There's a school of thought that says leaders don't make the times, they arise in response to the collective drives and psyches of the people.... the so-called zeitgeist (literally "spirit of the times" in German).
Just personally, if that happens, we'll first see it along the "edge", in places like Idaho or Alabama. Which is why the current signs that AZ's "Fundamentalism" is going "off the rails" (re: concealed weapons, spot "immigration checks", etc.) are kinda disturbing. And of course AZ also gave us Barry Goldwater, the father of the modern neo-conservative movement.
As Sinclair Lewis so famously said, "When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross..."

Really, what a joke, like "ageism" isn't bigoted! And obviously all these "rocket scientists" (aka neo-nazi skinheads) were born before 1955..... (not)!!

it'll be better....for Asians, Indians, and gays.
Trust me. A lot of Gen-Y kids are carrying on the racism. It's just more covert and coated with Political Correctness. I live in DC where a lot of Gen-Y interns are working on Capitol Hill for the politicians, and if their feelings about blacks are indicative of the future of what to expect from politicians since they are interning for the , I wouldn't be surprised if there was a gradual anti-black uprising like it was for the Jews when the Wiemar Republic became Nazi Germany.
