They are going to get the bill, and it will pass.

Democrats knew this wouldn't pass today, its just political posturing.

I really hate how Washington works.

I was watching CNN this afternoon and the bottom line had three headlines (not verbatim, but you get the point)...
- Democrats prepare to revisit and discuss financial reform but GOP not ready
- Graham leaves the senate during environment reform
- GOP pushes to postpone immigration reform

Remind me again, why are these people elected? They are supposed to be out there, discussing and getting work done. All they seem to care about is elections. GOP realizes their opposition to at least two of the reforms above (financial and immigration) could hurt them in the elections. So, they're vying to ensure democrats don't succeed in passing it while there is plenty of time left for campaigning. Technically, on issue of both of these reforms, they are pandering to the simpletons.

You are correct, eventually it will go forward. But, there is some value in today's vote. It further points out why there is so little action in the Senate.

Republicans block DEBATING the bill 57-41 (58-40). Harry Reid voted no as a procedural vote which allows him to bring it up for another vote. Ben Nelson was the only Democrat to actually vote against debating the bill, all others voted in favor of it. Out of the 41 Republicans, two did not vote, the 39 that did vote all voted against debating the bill.

Well, they would have to be able to walk into the room and chew gum, while trying to do that. Most Repubs, as Graham demonstrated, are not able to accomplish that.

We have a Middle Class?

I thought they had effectively destroyed it when they stole 40% of the economy. Unless you call both parents working for slave wages to afford WALMART Crap ....Middle class.

Don't tell me you expected them to act on behalf of commoners

What a stupid post.

Do you like strawberry ice cream? No, then you must hate ALL ice cream, right?

That's been the left's top play (maybe 2nd to cries of racism) for over a year now. If someone doesn't like THEIR flavor of legislation, then that person or group must be against ANY legislation addressing whatever the concern is.

It's getting really, REALLY old, and equally transparent.
