The explosion being that close to Viacom is just too much of a coincidence to ignore. If it was a crazy islamic extremist, it shouldn't be too hard to bust them, though. They're fortunately not very bright people, but unfortunately get lucky every now and then.

The video "shows a white male in his 40s, in Shubert Alley, looking back in the direction of West 45th Street," Commissioner Ray Kelly told a news conference, adding that the man looked around in a "furtive manner."
"He also was seen shedding a dark-colored shirt, revealing a red one underneath. He put the darker one into a bag that he was carrying," he said.

Wrong, Wrong, and Wrong.

Instant headlines, instant 24/7 coverage.

Also, being ultra-densely populated, likely increases odds of high casualties if successful

Terrorism doesn't need casualties, it only needs to convey fear and intimidate.
The media amplifies everything, just look at the coverage with no casualties or explosion.

Times Square was packed. If that bomb would have detonated as planned, the casualties would have been high.

You think they are going to "waste" an opportunity and not go for the maximum number of deaths possible?

Only if you treat it like a crime and not part of an ongoing war against this country. This should not be treated at a criminal action nor should terrorists be tried in criminal courts.
