What does being White mean anyways? My heritage is Portuguese and Lebanese and I never considered myself to be White, I have dark hair and olive skin, I live in Iowa, listen to country music, drive a pick up truck, wear a cowboy hat, love rodeo and I feel totally American. Would I want to be something else? Absolutely not, I am proud of who I am, even though, I am not White but I never saw myself as part of a "minority" group either.
Should I categorize myself as "Hispanic", so that society will finally be happy with labeling me as a part of a group? This stuff is total BS!

You sound confused about your race. By the way, American is not a race. Cowboy hats, pickup trucks, and rodeos are popular with mexicans, so i don't see the point of mentioning these things.
As I've taught my children, anyone who judges another based on the color of their skin, is an idiot.
Affirmative Action is a plan designed to look FIRST at skin, then at accomplishments, as are most scholarships. It devalues people - of all skin colors.
A friend of mine homeschools specifically so that her children WON'T be exposed to this stuff by the "wrong" type. She pulled her children out when her oldest came home spouting off about what he was "owed" and even monitors the emails he receives from his grandparents, as one of them is a strong believer in the victim mentality.
What he basically saying is white priviledge still exist, which is true.
I'm white. I'm also a male (aka a "twofer"). And a taller than average one at that!
So where's my privilege payoff?
