5 mayo is more of Southwestern US holiday more than a Mexican one, so I don't know what you might accomplish. Thanks to bars, clubs and liquor/beer distributors, it is now a widely celebrated holiday albeit not a Federal one. I still plan on having a couple of margaritas.

If I was in Puebla today, I'd very happily watch the parade. Otherwise, it's not a day that has any special significance in the USA. How many Americans no matter how liberal and politically correct really care who won the Battle of Puebla?

Excellent! I don't like to get inebriated any day, so I think I'll make this my reason for not getting drunk on St. Patricks day.

And now May 5 is out because I'm tired of having to press dos for ingles.

I don't drink tequila.
I am not any kind of hispanic.
I see nothing to celebrate.
and nothing to boycott!

I like the "Titanic" explanation. It makes as much sense as when we would celebrate the first Tuesday of the week in Viet Nam.
Any excuse for a party!

I wouldn't call it a boycott...the only reason I don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo is that it doesn't happen to be my holiday. (Since when are Americans supposed to celebrate other nation's holidays, anyway?)

Mexican flags, puerto rican flags, confederate flags, why bother? Fly a real flag, the Stars and Stripes.
You think Corona sucks yet you drink Budweiser...Now that's funny.

Considering we celebrate "Evacuation Day" around here, I don't see why we shouldn't celebrate Cinco De Mayo as well.

I just do not understand people afraid of the Hispanic influence in America. I do not feel threated by them. Why do you?

Yup. It's not a big deal at all in Mexico. It's a known holiday, but people still go to school/work on 5th of may. It's definitely more of a Mexican-American holiday, and a day to celebrate Mexican-American heritage more than to celebrate a victory over French troops.
