5 mayo is more of Southwestern US holiday more than a Mexican one, so I don't know what you might accomplish. Thanks to bars, clubs and liquor/beer distributors, it is now a widely celebrated holiday albeit not a Federal one. I still plan on having a couple of margaritas.
If I was in Puebla today, I'd very happily watch the parade. Otherwise, it's not a day that has any special significance in the USA. How many Americans no matter how liberal and politically correct really care who won the Battle of Puebla?
I wouldn't call it a boycott...the only reason I don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo is that it doesn't happen to be my holiday. (Since when are Americans supposed to celebrate other nation's holidays, anyway?)
I'm having a quesedilla burger and cold budweiser( Corona sucks). Cinquo De mayo is a non holiday but any excuse for a quesedilla burger.
Mexican flags, puerto rican flags, confederate flags, why bother? Fly a real flag, the Stars and Stripes.
You think Corona sucks yet you drink Budweiser...Now that's funny.
very true. some friends of mine from mexico city were amazed at what a big deal it is for some in this country.
which brings us back to the topic: you can't boycott something that you've never bothered noticing before in the first place.
Yup. It's not a big deal at all in Mexico. It's a known holiday, but people still go to school/work on 5th of may. It's definitely more of a Mexican-American holiday, and a day to celebrate Mexican-American heritage more than to celebrate a victory over French troops.
I boycotted St. Patricks's day to get back at the Irish...mainly for giving us Riverdance and Sinead O'Connor. And Bono.
LMAO! wish i could rep u more than once. I do, however, enjoy the Cranberries, Guiness and redheads.
